Author Interlude

Interlude: 25 Jul 2021

Alright this keeps coming up so I figured if anyone’s still here, I’d go ahead and make a decision instead of waffling forever.

Obviously Of Frost and Fire is a dumpster fire, and honestly it’s been that way since I first started it in 2019. I figured I could trudge through it and get it to where it needs to go, but at this point I think it’s so broken that while I can fix it, it’ll take too much time and effort, and may make it longer than it needs to be etc etc. ( Listen, 450,000 words isn’t a normal number for a story to reach loool most writers will tell me that’s WAY too much and I need to cut scenes out. They’re probably not wrong. )

I think primarily what went wrong for the most part is that I wasn’t expecting as much plot as I got. I didn’t have as many lifeboats prepared as we needed, and I can get to the end of this, but it’ll take me forever probably because I keep getting frustrated with it, and it’ll be a huge dumpster fire the whole way.

So I will be restarting it at some point. I’m going to step back from it, maybe return to the save that started it all, and see if I can spark some of the magic again ( it’s been dead since April 2020 tbh ). I don’t think a lot will change, and the name won’t be different either. I’ll leave this version up for right now, and then when I’ve got a few chapters of the new one written, I’ll hide it and post them.

In the meantime, I am actually very sorry to be restarting it again, but honestly I gotta think of what’s best and easiest for me here. Like, it doesn’t serve anyone any if I force myself to trudge through this slog and end up making more slog, and it takes literal years to get through when I could just restart it and be back here in a few months.

And maybe I’ll… idk, tie Morgyn and Caleb apart or something, smh. Actually I had some plans for that. Hopefully it won’t be as painful this time around. Third time’s the charm right?
