Eisenstern Legacy

Eisenstern 2.12

My oldest baby’s growing up.

It seems like time got away from me, but I’m glad to have made it here. I remember the sense of sheer panic when I first started this journey and became the second Eisenstern heir to take command of the legacy. And now I have to pass it on to the third.

It felt like a tough choice, when I realised I’d need to make it eventually. But over time, the choice made itself, almost.

Cynemaer and Freya came by and we spent hours outside talking and telling jokes. Freya informed me I’d gotten pudgier since the last time we’d spoken (she’s probably right). She and Kaylie haven’t had anymore children of their own, but instead decided to adopt. Tamika and Ellen are their other two children. Their first was a son they named Andor. He looks so much like Freya it’s unreal.

I guess the Eisenstern genes die hard.

Caleb was actually an NPC babysitter, and was never around, and when he was, he was in a bad mood.

Dad and father started talking about moving out again. Shortly after, auncle Morgyn and Caleb did the same.

I suppose it’s just as well. I have to remember that as much as I want to hold onto things in the moment and keep them exactly as they are, things are meant to change. And maybe it’s not always for the better, but things can’t remain the same forever.

It’s hard, letting go. But it’s also good. Change is good.

Gabriel and his cousin Ari, Bryn’s oldest, have become good friends. I’m happy to see that! Bryn had two more children, another son named Espen, and a daughter she named Svenja. Svenja’s quite young, if I remember correctly, she’d likely still be in diapers.

Well, having weird ages across our kids just seems to be an Ember-Eisenstern thing.

Ari’s a good kid. He turned out a lot like his mother, though he does greatly resemble his father.

She spontaneously started singing while they were out. I can only imagine she was just that happy.

One Saturday morning, Gabriel took Cassandra out to eat at Nine East for breakfast. It was adorable to watch the way her eyes lit up when he asked.

I think, perhaps, that something more I was quietly hoping would blossom is doing just that.

As long as they’re happy, that’s what matters the most to me. Gabriel’s been taking a lot of interest in the potion room, as well. And when I told him he was my choice of heir, he asked if he could renovate the house. To my surprise, he redesigned it into more of a Victorian-styled manor, even complete with a magic tower.

The kids certainly seem to be enjoying the extra space we have now. I can’t say I’m terribly opposed to it, but I’ve never been a huge fan of large houses. We grew up in a modest, one-storey Japanese home, not too big, not too small, designed in that Japanese minimalist way.

It suited us at the time, but I guess maybe we’ve outgrown such humble beginnings. Well, anyway, I’m only heir for a short time now, anyway.

I’ll be spending most of my free time with Avery.

Both Gabriel and Hilda have managed to complete their gold trophy with the scouts after earning all of their badges. It took them a little bit of time, but they stuck to it, they persevered, and now they’ve completed their goals. I’m so proud of my children, both of them.

The new magic tower seems to be working out quite well. Diaval even readily runs up the stairs and settles himself down on the floor to watch whoever’s upstairs work on their craft. We’ve even still got the goldfish dad got from the cauldron when experimenting one time.

Cassandra seems to love the new house. I wonder if she realises its significance? If she knows that it’s because of her that Gabriel had the new house designed this way? I also wonder how long this place will stay. We have so much space, though, it’s difficult to imagine them ever needing to expand again.

I’m not sure how he found room for everything, but he did, and I’m more than a little impressed.

So tragic. Hot wax. Oh no. I wondered why they freak out like this when they get wax on themselves and spouse was like, “Because it’s hot?” and then I was like, “Am I the only freaky child that used to coat my hands in hot wax melted off a candle?”

Hilda has gotten quite good at creating candles. She’s even gotten a few dyes and made coloured ones. They’re very neat to see! She’s sold a few on Plopsy, even, and is getting something of a name as a candle artisan.

Gabriel’s more interested in mastering cooking, it seems. I got good at it, but I wouldn’t say I mastered it. I wonder if he intends to eventually open a restaurant of his own? It might be really neat, if someday he owns Nine East. Of course, I also hear that restaurant owners don’t get to cook in them, so that might be a disappointing thing.

We’ll see what he does, I suppose. I look forward to watching his journey. And I have to admit, I’m pretty pleased not to be in the front seat anymore.

So many memories have been made, and so many more are ahead of us. When I look back, I’m proud of the things I’ve accomplished and the things my children have, and still will, accomplish.

Dad was right. Even if I wasn’t good at it, I did figure it out in the end.

Notes: Onto generation 3! I’m still playing 3 and haven’t gotten very far, so we’re almost caught up!
