Speaking of Gabriel bringing home friends… it turns out, he’s made friends with Cassandra Goth! You know, the oldest of the Goth family, really wealthy, influential, ancient bloodline spellcasters… of course, they were having a very animated and enthusiastic conversation with each other, and I was trying to pretend I wasn’t there. I was not purposely eavesdropping, but it’s hard not to hear a conversation going on right next to you.
But, they were both so in their own world together, they barely noticed the rest of us chums exist! It was kind of nice to see Gabriel getting along with someone outside the family so well. Maybe he’ll have more interest in magic than I ever did. Maybe he’ll be better at magic than I am.

Auncle Morgyn and dad were in the room, too. And I don’t know exactly what was going on, but auncle Morgyn started pouting or something and turned to look at dad. Nothing was verbally said, I don’t think (I didn’t hear anything), but the look dad gave him was enough to make me feel chastised, and he wasn’t looking at me!

It was a very weird occurrence.
Some few minutes later, auncle Morgyn wandered off, and dad sat down at another couch and joined me in watching television, and the whole moment was suddenly gone. I was left wondering what had happened, but, though I glanced at dad, he didn’t offer anything, and Gabriel and Cassandra were so engaged with each other they’d completely missed it.
Maybe it was just as well to let that particular dog lay sleeping.

Strangely, Cassandra eventually approached me and asked if she could move in. Well, I saw no reason to say no, and after a discussion with her parents, we made arrangements and moved some things around, and now she has a room of her own.
She and Hilda get along very well. It’s nice to see Hilda interacting with someone besides her family, though something tells me Cassandra may yet someday be family. The three of them like to get together in one of their rooms and work on their homework together. That’s quite good to see, too.

The television broke, probably due to uncle Caleb watching the cooking channel so much. I attempted a quick repairio, but as usual, my bad-witch kicked in and I set it on fire, instead. You’d think I would’ve figured out to stop doing that, I guess. Nope, I don’t learn.
Well, the way I figure, if I never do magic, I’ll never get better, right? Not that I think there’s much improvement to be gained from having to use a fire extinguisher on your television set. At least the fire didn’t spread and nothing else caught. That could’ve been much worse than it was.

Every time I turn around, it feels like, I’ve got the three teenagers in the house spending time together talking. It’s almost like Cassandra has been here the whole time, and I’m overjoyed they’re getting along so well. She’s not a terrible child herself, either, and certainly I’ve enjoyed having her around the house too. She’s about as polite as Gabriel, and between the two of them, there’s rarely ever anything for me to clean up around cooking meals.
Gabriel’s started trying to cook meals here and there, but he’s not quite as good as me yet. Once upon a time, that was I wasn’t as good as dad, so I’m sure he’ll get the hang of it, given time. He’s a lot more confident than I was at his age, so I have little doubt he’ll figure it out, and probably far less dramatically than I will.

Cassandra also plays the violin.
It’s wonderful to have another music lover in the house! Of course, when she pulls her violin out and starts playing, everyone in the house goes to listen, much like what happens when I start playing guitar. It’s sort of funny to watch everyone crowd around to listen to one of us playing. And the cats both adore singing along with the instruments, so we always end up with the cats, too.
But, I suppose it’d be very strange, if we didn’t get such a crowd.

My little cousin Kristyn is absolutely adorable. I keep thinking I kind of want another kid, but neither I nor Avery are spring chickens anymore. Having another baby at our age would be difficult, to be sure, and perhaps put a lot of unnecessary strain on the kids.
So, for now, I just enjoy teaching Kristyn things. Morgyn and Caleb don’t seem to remember she exists most of the time. It’s kind of sad, but I suppose they’re both pretty busy. Dad doesn’t have a job anymore, but Morgyn’s still a sage, and Caleb seems to work at the diner down the street.

Cassandra’s fitting in with the family quite well, still. She even gets along very well with dad, but personally, I think he’s hard not to get along with. I may be biased.
She’s such a nice girl! I’m so glad she’s my kids’ friend. I’d never try to tell Gabriel that this needed to be more than that, so I’ll just wait, and hope that it turns into something else.

Freya came by to visit, and seemed a little surprised to find half our family there!
But she too thought it was nice to have us all together again. I know things can’t stay like this forever-things change, as quickly as they stay the same, and we all have our own lives to live-but for now, I can enjoy this. Even if it is a little hectic!
